How I Got Started

My love affair with photography started long before I can even remember. Growing up, there was almost always a camera in my hand. I was the kid who wanted to capture everything, from everyday moments to big memories. In high school, I began entering photography competitions and documenting life around me just for the joy of it.

After graduation, I started photographing friends and family, never imagining it would grow into something bigger. But in time, this hobby turned into a true calling. I officially launched Catherine Diann Photography in 2018, but it wasn’t until 2020 that everything changed.

During the quiet days of quarantine, I discovered boudoir photography, and something in me lit up. I felt pulled to explore it more deeply, and what started as curiosity quickly became a passion. In the summer of 2022, I made the bold (and slightly terrifying!) decision to leave my full-time healthcare job and pursue photography full-time. I shifted my focus exclusively to boudoir and creative studio portraits and spent the next two years learning, experimenting, and growing.

I completely fell in love with helping women see themselves in a new light-empowered, beautiful, and deeply worthy, through intimate, artistic portrait sessions. During this time, I honed my skills in lighting, posing, photo composition, and, most importantly, evoking genuine emotion through the lens.

Then, in the summer of 2024, I reopened my calendar to include outdoor portrait sessions - family, couples, maternity, and instantly felt a spark. I fell back in love with the sessions that started it all. With a fresh perspective and years of experience behind the camera, it’s been so rewarding to create dreamy, cinematic portraits that truly tell each client’s unique story.

Every session I photograph now, whether it’s in the studio or under the open sky, is rooted in connection, creativity, and capturing emotion in its truest form.
